Been kicking this idea around for a little while now and I would love for someone to make something like this, but maybe I am the only one.
Calling it Oatmeal, as in “the the only thing you need in the morning”… could have called it bacon too I guess. The idea is a stream of all the content that you want in the morning. Mainly that teeth brushing, shaving, morning routine that everyone goes thru of wasted time staring at a mirror. I’d love to have an app that is widget based linking to all the stuff of interest, that you can pick and choose, in the morning:  Its gotta have a delayed autoscroll so you can keep on your morning routing and the page shuffles thru the widgets. I know the option/setting screen would be a bear to set up, but throwing this app open on the iPad and then docking on the bathroom sink would be fantastic! IMO. Of course this will have to do until we have content programmable mirrors in the bathroom.

Fini! In a prior post I talked about wanting to get smart people together, in Milwaukee, to make things: People that have ideas, people that can design and people who can write programs. Today I am happy to say that October 21st, at 6PM at Transfer Pizzeria will be the first Study Hall.
Thanks everyone for your support and I hope to see you there!

Crap app idea of the day: iPad Mugshot Board
So yeah, editable board with date, county (maybe by GPS), etc. Might be fun at parties. Anyway, I get a free copy if you make it.

Re-Birth of Study Hall

Since my mobile application, The Smart Alarm, released, I have found myself in more coffee and happy hour meetings with some very smart, and interesting people. Most of these people had ideas, mind blowing ideas that needed some legs. I found that there was about 3 pieces to getting these things going. They all represented 1, or 2, of the below, but not all 3 in order to complete a vision:

1. There is the person with the concept, or idea

2. The Designer (UI, UX and/or Graphic Designer)

3. And the Software Programmer

I’ve been speaking to enough groups, and key people, in Milwaukee now that I feel this is more than doable - its sought after. Coming soon I am looking to re-introduce people to the Study Hall (@StdyHll) - for adults. A technical study hall that would allow people to get together to cross pollinate fresh ideas and to promote creativity, allowing all the pieces to get together to actually make things. A creative incubator.

I am current going down the process of creating this environment to get these groups together in one place, to cultivate these ideas into something that they can turn around and actually make. This would be a location where people can meet, on a regular basis, to share ideas of what they are working on, or offer their services to others projects that they can get behind. We’ll be adding a website and some directories for getting in touch with the right people to help you make something for yourself.

In the mean time, feel free to reach out to me with ideas or ways that you wish to help get this off the ground, at: mike [at] michaelmassie [dot] com

I look forward to your feedback. Thank you very much!

Google 10 to the 100 submission - Viesansfil

Wish me luck as today I submitted an entrant in the Google 10 to the 100 initiative. I had this idea drafted as a Technical Writing project at MSOE. Why let it go to waste right?

Viesansfil,is a proposed new medical tool which would be comprised of an online database (DB) and a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag. The RFID tag would be issued to patients in two forms, either an implanted chip under the patient’s skin or in a traditional medical bracelet form. This RFID tag would hold critical information about this patient that can be read by any medical staff within 4 meters. With the online DB being managed by the collective medical profession, this DB could avert overdosing issues, misdiagnosis due to efforts made by other physicians, or other administrative errors. Populated in the patients database would be medical data like allergies, family history, and previous incidents. With either scanning the RFID or checking the online DB, any medical practitioner is able to quickly see all data related to this patient, for example; If a patient were to be admitted to the hospital unconscious, the hospital staff can scan the patient’s tag, find that him/her has an allergy to latex and who to contact in case of emergencies. This is critical data that can follow the patient everywhere. Further advances to the RFID tag would be to communicate its info to other wireless haptic devices within RFID range (e.g. RFID tagged heart monitor, RFID enabled mobile phones for real-time communication with physicians or database).

Backdated post - The Tuppa Chair was designed for a competition by Tupperware to create a new unconventional function from their products. The inspiration for this new chair design came from the Salad bowls that you “burped” to seal, and was also the famous key chain pill holder.
