The Virtual Crunked Badge - foursquare’s API could open up EA’s The SIMS to virtual world interaction with the real world.
A very interesting post over on @raster’s blog on how the foursquare API offered up some live data of who is all at a location, at that time, including their pic, and Facebook and/or Twitter profiles.
This got me thinking - real people in real places in real-time all streamed to an app - you take those locations, and endpoints, and drop them into a “The SIMS”-like preexisting game engine (or other MMO) and have couch surfers that could mingle with bar go-ers at a location in real life, heck conversations could be handled between them via @mention to their Twitter… Let’s not touch FaceBook poking. Granted the game creator would have to leverage foursquare to link to real locations on real places on a map, but all the pieces are there.
Who’s down for making a real live SIM game for foursquare?
The key to a connected media TV experience will be in layering content
When it comes to a connected media experience on our TVs, full screen apps will have their place, but the benefit will really be in layering over other content -A customizable sidebar would be a key feature in a connected media experience on your TV.
I’d love to have the ability to have an open bar on the side of the screen that would show when my friends are on Skype, emails in, plus a section that is adaptable to the content on the screen: Like when a movie trailer is playing on the screen that a button slide onto the sidebar that would allow me to a) Check local availability via Flixter b) Add to Netflix. When watching a sporting event then I can add a player stats bar, or a Twitter feed with a #hashtag of inline conversations (like the World Cup Tracking Page).
After 7 months of hard work on creating the new UI, the new version of ÜberTwitter is available now is Beta 8 for BlackBerry devices. You can download it now from: Here
Enjoy!

Cloud Bookmarking - what content providers can learn from Instapaper
Since I have started taking a commuter between campuses at work I have been relying more on Instapaper to hold my unread articles posted on Twitter (via Tweetie). This way I can retrieve them later to finish reading, either on the desktop in the office, or again on the phone on the way home. I also read the NYTimes, on my iPhone on the commute in, but am only offered the option to save on the device for later viewing. The trouble with this is that I am confined to a single platform, to retrieve my article, and pick up where I left off. The challenge for Netflix on the iPhone will be even more obvious - ex: I am on the bus watching a movie and then pause when I get home - The ideal finishing scenario will be to turn on my web enabled TV and finish watching my movie… right where I left off. The same from the NYTimes - I save an article upon getting home and open my iPad/TV/Laptop to finish reading. As we drift more between platforms there is a desirable opportunity for our content providers to be able to bookmark to the cloud, offering us the ability to pick right back up no matter what type platform we walk up to
@refrig - you need milk
For a while I was tying to find a real concrete use for Twitter v a FaceBook-like status updater, I think I found a move towards a very valid use. It appears there is a big movement by device manufacturers to place twitter capabilities into its products to inform you of changes. My Ey-Fi card, that I purchased, Twitters me when it has found Wi-Fi internet and offloaded all my photos to my Flickr account, thus letting me know that all my pics are safe and that my SD card is empty. The newest product that I found out at UNPLGGD.com is twittering home energy use, very smart and very useful.
Hurry up and open a twitter account so that your plant can tweet you that it’s thirsty. Here
